Our History - Quality and Reliability since 1892




1892

Locksmith Fritz Streuber founds the family business. Starting with the production of ash cans, tubs, watering cans and stables, the cornerstone for today's SULO Group is placed.



1927

SULO starts with the production of steel drums in Herford.



1960

New products are standardised containers made of steel as well as plastic in accordance with DIN regulations. This new division benefits from the experience and the quality oriented approach within the company.



1963

In taking over the waste collection company Jakob Altvater, SULO develops from being a pure manufacturerer into an environmental services company.



1972

The implementation of the unique MGB system is a milestone in the history of waste collection. The system consists of plastic and steel waste containers.



1983

The forwarding company Westfalia is founded as a spin-off of the former SULO dispatch department.



1990

SULO has its first sucess with weighing and identification technology.



1995

SULO's success with weighing and identification systems leads to the foundation of Envicomp Systems, a company that specialises in IT system solutions for the waste industry and later on also for the packaging industry.



1995

SULO Emballagen acquires a new production facility in Neustadt an der Weinstraße, Germany



2003

Owner Hermann Neuhaus sells the SULO Group to private equity investors Blackstone and Apax.



2003

The environmental services division Altvater Service changes its name to SULO. The waste collection services were from then on introduced uniformly under this well-known umbrella brand.




2005

SULO develops and launches the MFB system, which is particularly suitable for waste collection with modern side loader vehicles.



2005

SULO Emballagen sets new standards with an RFID system for steel packaging that was developed in co-operation with Envicomp Systems.



2007

Today's SULO Group is acquired by the French Group Plastic Omnium while the environmental services division is sold to Veolia.
